Special Friends 5th Birthday
On the 14th September 2019 we celebrated Special Friends 5th birthday. Over the years we have grown to support over 80 local families. We continue to grow from strength to strength and received official charity status in July 2018.

We held a special birthday party to celebrate our success with all our families.

Funday & Glamping
In May our families took part in a very special Funday and Glamping Weekend at Lea Green Development Centre. We enjoyed being outdoors, making new friends and pushing our boundaries by taking part in some adventure activities. We then had the opportunity to camp overnight and enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast.
Registered Charity
We are absolutely delighted to share with you the fantastic news that Special Friends is now officially a Registered Charity!
We have come a long way in four years when the lack of support for Special Needs families meant many families in the area were unable to find even one person to share their struggles and experiences with. Now here we are; this amazing, supportive network of over 70 families, all living within a few miles of each other, forming lifelong friendships and making our crazy lives seem (almost) normal! Having this fabulous peer-support and sense of ‘belonging’ is worth its weight in gold and being recognised for the importance this has in serving our community is, well, very special.
Thank you so much to you all for joining us on our journey this far. Being a registered charity opens up exciting new opportunities and so watch this space for new ways that you can support us in the future. 😊
